About the Artist

Jean moved to Lanesville, Indiana in 2001 with her husband, Karl, from Torrence, California after retiring from her career as a corporate executive in the computer field. She owns and operates Firefly Farm Art Studio where she designs and paints her own creations and teaches classes in decorative and fine art painting.

She began painting in 1996, when after much prodding from Karl, she attended a seminar in Florida by Priscilla Hauser, founder of theNational Society of Decorative Painters. Jean had done a little painting on her own before. But she was so inspired by Hauser’s enthusiasm and conviction that anyone who wants to paint can paint, she signed up for another class, then another, then another………..until eleven years later, she continues painting still as eager and enthused as that first fateful seminar.

She has also studied under national decorative painters Cheri Rol, Barb Watson, Sherry Nelson and Ann Kingslan. Robert Warren has also been an influence on her work.

You can find Jean’s work at the G. Wood Frame and Gift shop on the Square in Corydon, Indiana and at many local art shows. She does commissions and is especially fond of doing animal and children’s portraits.
